The following is a new requirement for the S-290 blended Course
Description
This is a BLENDED course that combines an
online training (OLT) component and an
instructor-led training (ILT) component.
The course is a skills focused training designed to prepare the developing fireline supervisor to undertake safe and effective fire management operations. It is the second course in a series that collectively serves to develop fire behavior prediction knowledge and skills. The course will train students how to make a thorough, timely assessment of the fire environment and to anticipate changes in fire behavior based on changes in and/or alignment of the fuels, weather, and topography. Students will be shown how such information can be applied then practice using this information to support their decision-making and risk management on the fireline.
Assessment
The OLT component contains unit quizzes and an online component assessment that must be passed with a 70% or better prior to taking the ILT. There is no final exam for the course. Certificates of Completion will be awarded to students who have:
- Successfully completed the Online Training (OLT) component (to include passing the online assessment with a score of 70% or higher) and
- Turned in the Memo of Completion to the lead instructor prior to or on the first day of the course.
- Participated in all discussion sessions.
- Satisfactorily completed all exercises.
