Refund Policy

Community Education agencies may cancel any class or program that does not meet the minimum enrollment. A full refund will be issued to those who register for a class that is canceled or full. Refunds will also be given if weather or an emergency closes school districts. To drop a class you must request a refund from the agency with which you are registered three (3) working days before the class starts. No refunds will be given once the class has started.

Description:
Join the 6th grade girls and boys cross country running club and learn about the sport of distance running.  Athletes will train to run races between 1-2 miles in length.  This will be awesome training for the 6th grade 5K!  6th grade athletes will compete in at least 2 home meets against other 6th grade/middle school teams.  There will be opportunities to compete in several other regional meets. This is a great program to introduce you to the Thunderhawk Cross Country program! 

Athletes must be registered with Community Education to participate. 

When: STARTING Monday, August 14th, 2023 - If you are in Band you can start on Sept 5 due to band camp.  

Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays   August 14th - October 5th
(practice on school days only); There will not be practice if there is a high school meet the same day.  

Practice Time: Practice prior to the start of the school year:  Monday through Thursday 8:30am-10am.
When school is in session:  Monday, Tuesday & Thursday  3:30pm - 4:45pm
                Wednesday 2:40pm to 4:00pm

Practice Location: Grand Rapids High School Webb LeBeau Track

Meet schedule will be available once registration has closed.  Parents will need to provide transportation for their 6th grade runner to out of town meets (Greenway, Deer River). 

Equipment needed:  Please bring a water bottle and wear seasonal running attire and running shoes to practice.  

Uniform: T-shirts provided.  You will need to provide your runner with shorts or leggings to wear for meets.  

Sign up for the REMIND 101 app- once practice starts you will get info on how to sign up for 2023 Cross Country reminders.  This will be the primary way coaches will communicate with parents.  
 
Bring to Class:

  • Participants should wear tennis shoes and bring a water bottle
