Minnesota Wildfire Academy

The Minnesota Wildfire Fire Academy is for professional firefighters or natural resources professionals that are required to have appropriate fire training. Registration preference for employees of MNICS members is from March 1, 2024- March 15, 2024. MNICS is an interagency group with state and federal partners that cooperate to manage wildfire and all-hazard incidents. Registration opens at 0900 Friday the 1st of March. Member agencies include the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), National Park Service (NPS) and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS), Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM). MNICS provides standard procedures, practices and information to facilitate, coordinate and support actions on incidents in Minnesota. The organization is governed by a Task Force of agency leads. After March 15, 2024 registration is open to all qualified applicants.

***IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION ON COURSE FEES*** Please note that a large portion of course fees are non-refundable. This amount is listed under the "Cancelation Fee" for each course and housing. Do not enroll in a course or housing if you are unsure as to whether or not you will attend. After May 1st all fees are non-refundable. This notice is also provided in the 2024 academy brochure and on the course registration release form.
